Resolution Games

The Resolution Games was the brainchild of our success with the MAAC. We started to get the hang of the competition world, and wanted to offer something exclusively to 12 Labours CrossFit members. The Resolution Games started in 2014 as a place for athletes of the 12 Labours Community to compete against one another. Athletes from each location, get to test out their fitness against athletes that sometimes they only see on the Wodify Whiteboard.

We have multiple divisions and make sure that all athletes have the ability to compete, that means whether you have been to the CrossFit Games, or have never competed before.

We have an absolute blast with this day, so keep an eye out every year around Januaryfor the next Resolution Games.

Lifestyle Challenges

We offer Lifestyle Challenges and Goal Setting Seminars to our members once or twice a year depending on the rest of the social schedule.

These change with time but always have a Kick-Off meeting to discuss Nutrition Principles and Goal-Setting, followed up with a workout to test. Depending on the length of the challenge, we have a few metrics we take at the start, log daily and weekend tasks for scoring.

At the end we tally up the scores, retest the workout and whatever metrics were being measured and announce a winner.

Social Get Togethers

Plenty of events throughout the year to get together and be social. Whether that is a charity workout for a local cause, a BBQ, or a Holiday Bar Crawl we like to unwind a bit.

Most of these smaller events are managed through our social media, so check out our Facebook and Instagram pages for more details on these!

The Slapshot Regatta

FEBRUARY

location: annapolis district

The Slapshot Regatta is a unique fundraising event that brings both 12 Labours CrossFit districts together to benefit Special Olympics Maryland. There are 8 rowers lined up per district to accumulate max meters and there are continuous hockey puck shootouts. In our inaugural event in 2018, the Annapolis District came away with the win and the right to house the Golden Lion statue for the remainder of the year. Every 5 minutes, 5 members from each gym shoots a hockey puck at the opposing district's coach. The winning team gets to row on an extra rower in the remaining 5 minute period to add additional meters to overall total.

2019 Total Meters Rowed Between Both Districts: 264,420

Annapolis District: 133,661 meters (Winner) vs. Columbia District: 129, 759

Penny Rides

February

location: 12L Annapolis or 12L columbia

Who doesn’t like a friendly competition? We are excited to present Penny Rides, a fundraising initiative where both districts will raise money for a local non-profit organization during a 3 week period. Each district will have a bucket for collecting loose coins, but dollar bills and checks may also be accepted. The district with the most amount of money is deemed the winner but there will also be an additional twist of fitness!

At the end of the 3 week collection period, the donations will be tallied the week after and the total amount of money raised will become the penalty for the opposing district. For every 5 cents raised, one calorie will need to be performed on the Assault Bike calories (i.e. $500 = 10,000 calories).

Members will come together to accumulate max calories in 30 minute slots to contribute to their team’s total calories. Coaches from the home district will be responsible for completing any Assault Bike calories not completed on the designated event date.

The Burpee Hour

May

location: home district or virtual

How many burpees can you complete in 60 minutes? It was initially programmed for a Saturday workout at the affiliate level to raise money for our favorite restaurant in town but now everyone has the ability to participate. Everyone is being affected by this pandemic, gyms and restaurants alike. We realized that everyone in this community loves suffering together, so we thought why not something truly awful like an hour of straight burpees that takes absolutely no skill, no equipment, and no gym. The only thing we are asking people to do is when the workout is over, pick your favorite local spot to eat and order takeout. The workout is free, and entering your score and seeing where you stack up in the world is free.

Syndicate Vault

december

location: columbia district

The Syndicate Vault will be slightly different than your local fitness competition because it will be a bracket style elimination format. The partner competition will be Male/Female only and the number of accepted teams will be capped at 64. First, there will be no distinction between fitness levels during registration. All teams will be placed in one division. After completion of one preliminary seeded workout, the top 32 ranked Male/Female teams will be placed in the Gold bracket, while the remaining 32 Make/Female teams will be placed in Silver bracket. This means that each team will be guaranteed a minimum of two workouts. After the the first seeded workout, the single elimination process begins. The bracket rounds have teams compete head-to-head against one opposing team. The winning team advances to the next round. The final teams will each complete 5 workouts in one day to win their respective brackets.
